Mumbai: A picture is worth a thousand words, and that’s what an image of a girl crying at her father’s crowning ceremony has done to dozens of people across the country.
The image of Zohra bursting into tears during the crown-laying ceremony of his father Abdul Rashid, a Kashmiri policeman, has taken social media by storm. Many pour their hearts to the child, offering their condolences.
Rashid was shot and killed by militants while on duty at Mehandi Kadal of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the South Kashmir Police, on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, expressed solidarity in the pain of the policeman’s daughter, Zohra, through a Facebook message.
The DIG posted a heartbreaking message saying, “Your tears have shaken many hearts … You are too young to understand why this happened.”
Comforting Zohra, he said the J & K police will never forget his father’s sacrifice.
“All the drops of your tear fill our hearts,” he said in the mail.
The DIG continued to praise all the soldiers who had given their lives for the country. He on behalf of all J & K Police officers also promised to value Rashid’s memory as a real cop, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty.
Many also took to Twitter to express their grief for the loss, sharing the picture of the girl.
